Laziness

1. What are the negative results of being the sluggard or the shiftless individual according to the following passages? Prov. 15:19; 19:15; 20:4;

2. What are the positive results of industriousness according to the Word of God? II Tim. 2:15; Prov. 3 1:10-3 1; Eph. 4:28; 1 Thess. 4:11-12; 1 Cor. 10:3 1

3. Proverbs 6:6-11 instructs us to consider the ways of the ant and learn from the creature. Go to the encyclopedia and do some research on the ant. "Consider her ways and be wise.” Make a fist of the industrious tendencies of the ant and how you can apply those principles to your life.

4. The Bible instructs us to guard against idleness (II Thess. 2:6-15). List ten ways that you can "be on your guard."

5. Keep a "things to do today" fist and a "things that must be done this week” list. Make out the weekly fist on Sunday night or Monday morning. Make out the daily fist each right before you go to bed or each morning when you get up. As you complete each task mark it off of your list. The things on your daily list should come from your weekly fist. Do not allow yourself any "idle" time or free time until everything on the daily list is complete.

6. Read II Thessalonians 3:6- 10. Paul sets himself up as a model of industriousness. Find someone in your church that can be your model. Have him / her keep you accountable to your daily and weekly goals.

7. Do a weekly time inventory. How much time do you spend working, for yourself, for your family, for God? Is the breakdown reasonable? What changes need to be made?
